Managing Director Brendon Frost was recently contacted by a Hamilton owner of dogs who was becoming more concerned with the ever growing problem of dog thefts in the Waikato.
The customer had an existing home security system with CCTV cameras but realised this system could not identify faces or number plates of vehicles if his home was targeted by burglars.
The customer had heard better options were available and Brendon discussed with him the difference between analogue and IP cameras is when you zoom or stretch the image, IP Camera footage remains clear whereas analogue camera footage will pixelate or distort. The IP system is like watching HDMI Sky quality TV.
The IP camera system would give the customer the ability to see car registration plates and facial recognition which would provide a far higher level of protection for his beloved dogs!
Given a full CCTV security system was already in place within the home & property the changeover was fairly straightforward as the existing Cat5 cabling was able to be reused, so the install mainly involved new IP cameras and a recording device swap and re configuration of the remote viewing.
The customer went with a new NVR (network video recorder) & five IP cameras providing full surveillance around his home & property.
This was all completed by our installers in just 2 hours on the weekend following the consultation by Brendon several days earlier.
The customer was very happy with the speed of the install and the price provided and now feels they have a security system that is a stronger deterrent for the theft of their dogs and if the unthinkable happens then they feel they have more chance of identifying the thief’s and retrieving their beloved pets.
We hope this customer doesn’t ever face the worst case scenario and we would encourage other Hamilton dog owners to take similar steps to provide the highest level of protection for their beloved pets.
