In May 2014 we were contacted by an early childhood private school that needed a security system that would be simple to use and also satisfy the schools insurers.
This school site had no security system installed and the issue of requiring a security system came about when the school’s insurers were undertaking a review and insisted that both a security alarm and fire system be installed.
We were asked by the school to put forward our recommendations based on our years of experience with similar situations. Our recommendation needed to include a solution for the school buildings having no roof cavity or standard phone communication in place as they relied on VOIP.
The site was originally a single building that was later converted. A second building was added joining onto the first and then a third building was recently added which is detached. Cabling joining the new building was omitted so we needed to find a modern work around. The perfect solution for the early childhood school was a fully wireless security system.
Our security consultant Guy recommended a RISCO all wireless alarm system with IP monitoring module. This included 2 external sirens, 3 keypads (one for each block), 8 sensors and 9 smoke detectors and swipe fobs for key members of staff. The alarm is fully monitored via an internet connection.
The school was happy with the recommendation and two weeks later our installers began work. It was quite a complex install that took several days whilst also being careful not to interrupt the day to day activities of the school staff and children.
Once the install was completed we worked with the school staff to set in place routines and procedures as there were not only day time staff to consider but after hours staff such as cleaners that needed to get into the habit of arming and disarming the alarm.
With so many people involved there are often initial teething problems with the occasional ‘false alarm’ but we continued to support the school through this period and create another happy Sterling Security customer.
