Nigal Thurgood at Glen Frost attended the first meeting with the client in November 2017 to talk about security options for the construction site that was being damaged and losing equipment and materials regularly.
That same day in November we started on the first site with 10 mobile patrol checks per night at random times to help deter and catch unwanted persons on the construction site of the complex. There was 8 units being built and they had over $100K of damage done to one of their units with items being removed and taps being turned on destroying carpet and the house lining.
Later in November the client gave us a secondary site with six checks per night on a four-unit complex. There had been issues with items going missing during the build including the removal of the Pink Bats and fittings being stolen, taps being turned on causing water damage and putting the build behind time.
The next day the client gave us a third site to conduct mobile patrols on. Four checks per night were initiated on this site. The location and the threat level was assessed at this point and four checks were what was recommended at this stage in the build.
In early December we were given a fourth site in Cambridge where a large amount of product was being taken from site as well as a trailer. Sterling Security installed a full CCTV camera system in place and Mobile patrols were initiated which seen a drastic reduction over night of loss.
Due the large amount of items that were missing from the fourth site the client sought some advice and asked if SRS could complete some investigation work on their behalf as to the whereabouts of some of the items and product. Within just a few hours the product was located and identified and an admission by someone involved was discovered and all information handed back to our client. Unfortunately, there were very strong links to one of the clients own workers.
Due to the issues that were occurring onsite at these locations the client asked for a cost effective security solution that could help. The mobile patrols were the first approach followed by us implementing a portable CCTV system which is motion and sound activated. This system immediately became successful with multiple unwanted persons being caught on camera. As an added bonus with our system, it sends the patrols team an alert and they remotely log in and see what is happening on site. On more than one occasion we were able to respond and catch people red handed as well as being able to direct police to where the offenders were hiding onsite and a full description of them on numerous occasions.
All four sites are located in and around Hamilton city and the client has indicated there are further sites they wish to employ our Patrols and Response teams on with the aid of the portable CCTV systems.
Before we started completing work for the development company and their builds the damage and theft rate was out of control. As mentioned above one unit alone had over $100K of damage caused alone. To date there has been no further loss or damage onsite.
Three of the sites had a 4 camera CCTV portable system placed in a secure location and one had a permanent high grade CCTV system attached to an existing system. The portable system we use has cloud back up storage and can take up to 5 cameras. It is completely portable and can be moved around the site as the build develops so we can capture great footage at all stages of the build.
The customer has expressed how happy they are with the professional level of service they are receiving and have since received quotations for permanent alarm and monitoring systems for their head office.
