1. Purpose of This Warranty
This Warranty sets out the terms under which Sterling Security provides warranties for security
products we supply, install, or repair, including but not limited to alarm systems, CCTV systems,
access control systems, fog security systems, and associated remotes and accessories
("Products").
This Warranty operates in addition to your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (NZ)
and other applicable legislation. Nothing in this Warranty limits or excludes your rights under
the law.

2. Workmanship Warranty
All workmanship performed by Sterling Security is warranted to be free from defects for a period
of three (3) months from the date of installation or repair ("Workmanship Warranty Period").
This workmanship warranty covers only faults arising directly from the work carried out by
Sterling Security. It does not cover defects resulting from misuse, neglect, external damage,
environmental factors, animal/insect infestation, or any interference by third parties.

3. Product Warranties
The following manufacturer-backed warranties apply to equipment supplied and/or installed by
Sterling Security:

All other brands of equipment not specifically listed above will carry a maximum of twelve (12)
months replacement warranty from the date of installation or purchase, unless otherwise
specified in writing by Sterling Security.

Replacement Warranty means that Sterling Security will, at its discretion, replace the defective
product with the same or a similar item of equivalent value, subject to manufacturer approval if
applicable.

Replacement of any defective item does not reset or renew the original warranty period.

4. Warranty Exclusions
This Warranty does not cover:

  • Damage caused by insects, animals (including rodents, birds, or pets), or infestation of any kind.
  • Misuse, negligence, improper maintenance, vandalism, unauthorized modifications, or use of the equipment other than in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Damage caused by external environmental factors, including but not limited to water ingress, electrical surges, lightning, fire, flood, or other natural disasters.
  • Consumable items (other than batteries and hard drives, which have limited warranty periods as outlined above).
  • Equipment or workmanship not supplied, installed, or repaired by Sterling Security.
  • Failures due to third-party alterations or repairs.

5. Costs Associated With Warranty Claims
While replacement parts may be provided at no charge under applicable warranties, labour,
travel, and service call fees for removal, reinstallation, or assessment are not covered by the
warranty.

Clients may be charged for labour, travel, and call-out time at the current applicable rates.

6. How to Make a Warranty Claim
To initiate a warranty claim, you must:
Notify Sterling Security of the defect or failure promptly upon discovery.
Provide proof of purchase (invoice or receipt).
Allow Sterling Security reasonable access to inspect the equipment and confirm the defect.
Allow Sterling Security the opportunity to repair, replace, or remedy the defect as appropriate.
All warranty service must be carried out by Sterling Security or an authorised agent. Failure to
follow these procedures may void this warranty.

7. Consumer Guarantees Act 1993
Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993:
Products must be of acceptable quality, fit for purpose, and match their description.
If your Products fail to meet these guarantees, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or
refund.
The rights under this Warranty are provided in addition to the rights and remedies available
under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
If the Products are supplied for business purposes, as defined under the Act, you agree that the
Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply (subject to written agreement).

8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
Sterling Security is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss or
damage arising out of or in connection with the use of any Product or service provided.
Liability is strictly limited to the repair, replacement, or refund (at Sterling Security’s sole
discretion) of the faulty Product or workmanship.

9. Maintenance Recommendations
To ensure the continued reliability, performance, and longevity of your security system, Sterling
Security recommends:

  • Alarms and Access Control Systems: Annual professional inspection and servicing to check sensors, panels, cabling, backup batteries, and settings.
  • CCTV Systems: Annual servicing to clean cameras and housings, verify camera focus and recording functionality, check hard drive status, and ensure firmware is up to date.
  • Fog Security Systems: Annual testing to verify canister pressure, activation mechanisms, and backup power supplies.
  • Remote Controls and Batteries: Periodic battery checks and replacement as needed (typically every 12 to 24 months).
  • Network Video Recorders (NVRs): Monitoring hard drive health and replacing as needed (typically every 3 to 5 years for best performance).
  • Regular maintenance helps detect and correct issues early, maintain compliance with insurance requirements, and extend the life of your equipment.

Please contact Sterling Security to arrange a scheduled maintenance plan.

Note: Maintenance services are not included under warranty unless expressly stated in writing.

10. Amendments
Sterling Security reserves the right to amend this Warranty at any time, provided that any
changes do not reduce your rights for Products and services already purchased.
